Slow remove of window / launch of app

Gábor opened

I saw something related in the latest release notes (2.5), but I still experience this.

Regarding closing:

  • I close a window
  • wait a bit (the window is still shown in the taskbar)
  • then click on another window on the display - the closed window is only removed after this from the taskbar

Regarding launch: when launching an app, it can sometimes take up to 5 seconds for the app's first/new window to appear, while it's instant from the dock. But this is not happening with all apps. Slack and my pinned Google Meet chrome app are for example quick, but Chrome itself, VS Code, and even the Terminal is slow to launch - all of them being quick from the dock. I'm not sure what could cause this, if others don't have this issue.

We’ll remove the unnecessary delay when reopening apps and fix closed windows staying in the taskbar until you click elsewhere. These fixes will be in the next update.

2.6 is released, please tell me your feedback

After using it for a while, so far so good, I didn't experience huge lags like before.
When an app is running without windows (for example Teams), opening it from the Dock is faster than opening from the taskbar's app button, but the difference is tolerable for me.

Happy it helped. We will also try to find the reason, why the Dock seems to start an app faster.

This will be tracked in #57

Best, Linda
